Splendidly
arrayed with the undeniable talents of modeling, acting and
dancing, Tysha Williams is taking the entertainment industry by
storm. With an air of
confidence that proclaims, “Yes, I can,” she hails from Atlanta
(also affectionately known as “Black Hollywood”) by way of
Missouri and now dwells in Los Angeles. She looks forward to
blazing an unforgettable path on the runway, on the big screen
and onstage. Simply put, Tysha Williams is certainly one to
watch.
From the time
Tysha was very young, it was no secret that she was destined to
excel. It would not be odd to find Tysha imitating the latest
dance moves she’d seen on the latest video or awards
performance. Much of her dance ability is self-taught, and she
counts icons Michael and Janet Jackson as her greatest
influences. “As a kid, I really desired to do gymnastics, but
that was really a luxury for minorities in my small Missouri
hometown,” Tysha says. Nonetheless, she wasn’t dissuaded by the
fact. With aspirations of someday dancing onstage with R&B
sensation, the late Aaliyah, she put her skills to work by being
a valued part of her high school’s cheerleading team, and she
also performed hip hop dance. These experiences only paved the
way for her to emerge as a leader, wherein she ultimately was
chosen to choreograph many of the cheerleaders’ routines.
While
continuing to hone her skills as an outstanding dancer, Tysha
auditioned for the cheerleading teams of the Atlanta Falcons and
the Dallas Cowboys. She gained the favor of the latter, but it
was an unquenchable thirst to follow her first love of acting
that caused her to deny the Cowboys’ offer and pursue formal
studies at Georgia Perimeter College. Tysha holds an
associate’s degree in business administration; her minor is in
performing arts. While at Georgia Perimeter, she received the
theater arts scholarship, an award that speaks volumes to her
theatrical abilities. Her experience at Georgia Perimeter was
merely a starting point, as she looks forward to earning a
bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising. This feat will allow
her to accomplish another goal of launching a handbag line which
will also feature boots. The two fashion items are among her
favorites.
Tysha’s studies and
expertise in dance have given her international acclaim in that
she has taught dance in Hong Kong. Quite versatile, Tysha has
learned the languages of Spanish, French and Japanese, and her
dance genres include
Hip hop, House, Reggae, Jazz and
Salsa. Her college experience also gave her exposure to Modern
Dance and Ballet. She has had the opportunity to work under the
tutelage of international dancer and choreographer Bobby
“Millage” of New York City, Atlanta instructor and actress Sally
Robinson and Devyne
Stephens, a noted choreographer and producer in Atlanta who has
worked with everyone from Usher, Ciara and TLC among others.
Tysha landed
her first main feature role, Rosa, in Workaholics Films’
“Differences” while in Atlanta. Upon venturing out to L.A. she
garnered background work in season two of MTV’s “Disaster Date,”
as well as pilot work for CBS Studios’ “Pink House.” She is
pleased to announce her feature role in the upcoming short film,
“Horror in Miami.” Other credits include being cast as an extra
in Tyler Perry’s “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” a scorned woman
in Jenna McKenzie’s “Vagina Monologues” and she has played the
role of Amanda (the mother) in Tennessee Williams’ “Glass
Menagerie.”
Not selfish
in her endeavors, Tysha anticipates embarking upon philanthropic
initiatives to include the development of housing for single
parent or low-income families, in her home town and eventually
spreading abroad. |
